Agawa Canyon Tour Train

Whistle blows. All aboard the Agawa Canyon Tour Train for a day-long adventure by rail through the spectacular northern wilderness of Algoma Region, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada.

Train tours run through summer and fall to take in the ever-changing colours and seasonal highs. From the comfort of your coach, see first-hand the majestic hills, forests, steep gorges and exhilarating vistas of the Algoma Uplands…the same panoramas that inspired the iconic Canadian Group of Seven landscape painters whose art celebrates Ontario’s northland. When you get here, our Trailhead Adventure Hosts can help you plan your adventure itinerary, not only for the Tour Train, but to other area adventures and attractions.

Once you reach the Agawa Canyon, you’ll have time to hike the trails, take in the waterfalls, and climb to the lookout platform for an unforgettable view. Photographers, painters, nature lovers and adventurers…prepare to be agog. And if you’re a truly dedicated train buff, consider the overnight "Tour of the Line”. The scenery is so awe-inspiring and the views so panoramic. You’ll love the trestle bridges, and the flux of forest, lake and river. There’s a pretty good chance you’ll see wildlife, maybe even the majestic moose. And the colours in autumn…mind-popping, especially the scarlet red maples.

Here's what you'll find on the train:

  • Comfortable coaches
  • Tinted glass windows
  • GPS-triggered tour narration in 5 languages (English, French, German, Japanese & Mandarin)
  • Locomotive-mounted digital cameras
  • Dining Car

Testimonials

While my work takes me many places across Canada, Algoma's Water Tower Inn & Suites is by far one of my favourites. The staff are exceptionally pleasant, rooms are clean and the 'Inn' offers 2 places to eat onsite. The food is great from either the 'Pub' or 'Caseys'....with lots of healthy choices.
