Gros Cap offers outstanding vistas from the shoreline of Lake Superior. For those willing to make the trek to the rock bluffs, using the Voyageur hiking trail, the visitor will be able to take in a 270 degree vista at a height of 60 to 90 metres (197 to 295 feet) above Lake Superior. Detailed maps for the Gros Cap tour are available from Algoma's Water Tower Inn reception.
Cyclists can ride to the Gros Cap area directly using Highway 550 (Second Line) or by using a combination of Highway 17, Fourth Line, Allen Side Road and Third Line to Second Line then on to Gros Cap. On the return cyclists can extend the trip by cycling out to the Pointe des Chenes area before returning.
A drive to the Gros Cap area is always a pleasant trip because of the scenery. During the fall colour period this is a particularly scenic drive that local residents enjoy taking.
The Gros Cap Bluffs can be accessed using the Voyageur Trail. Here the trail should be accessed from Marshall Drive. This location has spectacular views of Whitefish Bay of Lake Superior and rugged coastal scenery.

While my work takes me many places across Canada, the Water Tower Inn is by far one of my favourites. The staff are exceptionally pleasant, rooms are clean and the 'Inn' offers 2 places to eat onsite. The food is great from either the 'Pub' or 'Caseys'....with lots of healthy choices.
